If you are of a certain age you remember the Granny Squares, they were made into afghans, and scarves, bags, and sweaters and anything else you could make out of soft yarn squares. These squares were very popular in the 1970’s all you needed was a crochet hook and some yarn and you were in the granny square making business.
So fast forward about 6 decades and granny squares are finding their way back. And I have a friend who is a machine embroidery digitizer extrodinaire. I have been suggesting to her that she should release patterns for her amazing work and I think she is about to get this fun little pattern out.
You might ask “Monica, how did you get a hold of this pattern already?”. The answer to this question is - I beg and offer to be a tester! But her patterns are always great, needing very little testing, and she is the most gracious person.
The granny squares are all thread and stitched out on the embroidery machine. I am always amazed that my friend Karen Parker from Threadhead 901 can dream these cool ideas and make them come to fruition using the embroidery and sewing machine.
With my cute little granny square bag finished I am all set to go ‘clubbing’. If only I new what that meant and if it means being out after 8pm I am probably not a good candidate for ‘clubbing’. Maybe the farmer’s market is more my speed. Either venue I now have the perfect bag to carry with me.
Keep an eye out for this bag pattern, I promise it is coming soon.
